COUNSELLING & APPOINTMENTS
All counselling sessions are conducted on appointment only and individual basis (in multi-pet households several pets may be concerned). I may ask you to fill out a questionnaire before our first meeting.
The first session is usually held in the living environment of the pet and lasts for about 2 hours. During this time I will examine the circumstances in which the unwanted behaviour is presented as well as the living environment of the pet. With this information I will hopefully be able to work out why your pet is acting in this way, the underlying motivation for the behaviour, and come up with a range of options available to modify this specific behaviour. These options may include ways of changing your relationship with your pet, training specific exercises, modifying something in the living environment and daily routines of the pet, and changing the ways that your pet reacts to specific stimuli.
Based on my conclusions I prepare a treatment plan which I send to you by e-mail within a week of our session (a copy may be sent to your veterinarian if you agree). Once you have studied the plan we decide together how to proceed. The first session and treatment plan cost 70 eur (incl. VAT). This can be paid in cash at the end of the session or by banktransfer within a week (bank account BE75 4014 5351 7151).
I propose to plan a second session during which I will show you how to implement the treatment plan including exercises and other instructions so that you can anticipate, prevent, guide and control the unwanted behaviour. Because each pet and owner are different no two interventions will be exactly the same and, although they may follow the same scientific principles, ways of changing each dog’s behaviour will be tailored to the individual circumstances.
Consecutive sessions of 60-90 minutes cost 50 eur (incl.VAT). This includes follow up by mail with adaptations to the working plan, handouts and helpful sources. These sessions can be held in your home, in my premises, in a vet's practice or in any other suitable location. Skype sessions are also possible in certain cases.
You are welcome to contact me by phone or by mail should you have questions or concerns.
I will do my best to help you. Regarding behaviour problems and more complex matters, possibly involving risk, I may ask you to complete a disclaimer document prior to our first session.
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon and helping you the best I can,
